Mark your calendars, folks. Apple has set the date for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will kick off on 9 June. Apple has organised an in-person event for people in the States to watch the keynote live from Apple Park, while the rest of us will have to make do with the official livestream channels.
WWDC for the W
Apple hasn’t given away any secrets of what’s to come at this year’s showing, briefly hinting at some major changes headed to the company’s extensive software lineup. This at least aligns with the current rumours from Bloomberg (via The Verge) that a broad software design refresh was in the works at the Apple laboratory, alongside some new hardware announcements, and if we’re lucky, an update on Siri’s incoming AI powers.
“Available for free to all developers, WWDC25 will spotlight the latest advancements in Apple software. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to supporting developers, the conference will provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features,” it said in a blog post.
Apple took the opportunity at last year’s WWDC to debut Apple Intelligence, showing off yet-to-feature Siri upgrades that involved kitting out the assistant with a more conversational manner and newfound abilities. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple was struggling behind the scenes, noting that it might be at least two years before these updates are ready for the public.

Don’t expect much on the hardware front at this year’s WWDC. Apple has been known to deliver some big upgrades at these things in the past, most recently unveiling the Apple Vision Pro in 2023, followed by the M2 chip and new Mac devices. The slate might be empty this year, with rumours touting a refreshed Mac Pro and a new wave of AirTags. Exciting stuff… right?
If you aren’t in the States for the 9 June date, you’ll be able to catch the keynote from wherever you are (assuming you have a decent internet connection). Apple will livestream the event in all the usual places, while developers looking to experience a week’s worth of Apple goodness can tune into the keynote on the Apple Developer app, Apple Developer website, and Apple Developer YouTube channel.
