Chinese electronics manufacturer Oukitel, known mostly for its chunky phones with big batteries, has opened preorders for its newest model the WP100 Titan. Titan is an apt name considering the phone measures roughly 17.8cm by 8.4cm, and about 3.3cm thick, weighing a chunky 867g.

With a 33,000mAh battery, the WP100 Titan is the ultimate survivalist’s phone. Oukitel claims it is good for 4,459 hours or around six months of standby time. It has an IP68 rating, allowing it to be submerged in 1.5m of water for about thirty minutes. It also packs a 1,200-lumen LED camp light, but the built-in projector only manages 100 lumens of max brightness, needing very dark conditions to get the most out of it.
The main camera has a 200MP sensor, and the front camera uses a 32MP sensor. It also adds a 20MP infrared night vision camera, as well as a 2MP macro camera. Additionally, it hosts a fingerprint reader and supports 18W reverse charging.

Internally, the device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, with an impressive 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also has a decent 6.8in 120Hz display that can apparently be used to hammer tent pegs into the ground, if the market video is to be believed. It ships with Android 14 loaded, which will later upgrade to 15, and presumably, Android 16 when it releases later this year, although that hasn’t been confirmed.
The WP100’s giant battery allows users to beam light for 150 hours, call for 289 hours, or watch videos for 49 hours (or six full-length movies), provided they’re not using the device for anything else, of course.
Oukitel claims mass production of the WP100 Titan will begin in March, and devices will start shipping in April. The WP100 Titan is available to preorder through Kickstarter and has already passed its $10,000 goal. Preorders cost $600, or roughly R11,100 discounted from the $900 or R16,650 retail price. South Africans will likely need to add import fees on top of that.
