UPDATE: After receiving confirmation from iStore SA, we have added pricing for the iPhone 16e 256/512GB models as well as the opening time for pre-orders locally.
If you missed the news this morning, Apple announced the more affordable iPhone 16e last night as the newest member of the iPhone 16 family. It featured a starting price of $600 (∼R11,100) and a launch date of 28 February in the States, leaving hopeful South Africans scratching their chins. Well, no longer.

A quick visit to the local iStore website shows that the iPhone 16e will get its start on 28 February, the same as the U.S. It also confirmed that pre-orders will open tomorrow – 21 February, at 15h00 SAST.
According to a new report from Glitched, however, iStore SA has confirmed the iPhone 16e will start at R16,000 for the base model, featuring 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, and will be available in black and white colourways. Additionally, customers who pre-order the iPhone 16e ahead of the launch will receive iCare Plus, valued at R3,000, for free. That’s… not nothing.

We reached out to iStore SA in the hopes of clearing up any confusion surrounding the price of the remaining models and hadn’t heard back at the time of publication. We can now confirm, however, that iStore SA will sell both the 256GB and 512GB models, with an asking price of R19,500 and R25,000 respectively. These will also be available in black and white colourways.
