Fitness wear brand Puma has launched its new ForeverRun Nitro 2 running shoes in South Africa, building on the popularity of the first edition (which lacked the ‘2’ in its name). Billed as a stability shoe, Puma has aimed these at the general running market.
A selection of design technologies and materials with a ™ after their names have allowed for “improved stability, increased heel support and upgraded comfort”, according to the company.
ForeverRun Nitro 2 forever
We’re not kidding about the trademarked construction. Puma has fitted the ForeverRun Nitro 2 with a widened midsole made with dual-density NitroFoam (better than regular foam) and a technology called RunGuide (is Apple naming these things?) that keeps runners’ feet aligned when in motion. There’s little worse than twisting an ankle when out on a run. Well, except for having to walk back to the car.
The ForeverRun Nitro 2’s heel stack is 38mm high and the drop is 10mm, allowing for increased heel stability. The rolled heel collar and an upper reinforced with Pwrtape (there’s that ™ again) allow for durability, comfort, and breathability. If you’ve ever taken a pair of gym shoes on an actual run, you’ll know exactly why this is important.
Finally, at 295 grams, they won’t feel like you’re roaming around the streets with a set of concrete boots on.
If you’re keen to stick a pair of these on your feet, it’ll set you back R3,400 directly from Puma. Pricing will vary from place to place if you’re looking elsewhere.
