rAge Expo, one of the largest geek and gaming culture events in the country, makes its annual return to Johannesburg between 29 November and 1 December 2024.
The event will offer something for everyone across its three-day span. Live esports competitions will take place between the best gaming teams and casuals alike, with the promise of loot for the victors. Attendees can also buy souvenirs from vast selections of handcrafted items in the Artists’ Alley, from plushies and sculptures to various cosplay accessories and handmade dice.
Tech lovers can look forward to cutting-edge tech including VR, robotics, and interactive exhibits showcasing various innovative tech while PC gaming enthusiasts will probably already know that the rAge BYOC LAN party makes its return.
rAge Against The Machine
Those looking for great deals on new tech will find plenty of products on special. There will be live tattoo and airbrush art stations for ink lovers. There will also be a fashion and cosplay show, which will show gaming-inspired fashion some love – it wouldn’t be a modern geek convention without a cosplay competition.
rAge 2024’s main event is Monster Energy Call of Duty Showdown, hosted by Mettlestate. The best four teams that made it through online qualifiers will face off live for a share of the R10,000 prize pool. If that doesn’t include you, maybe the casual ‘King Of The Hill’ Call of Duty competition is more your speed.
Monster Energy will also offer rAgers the chance to print their rAge 2024 memories for free at its photo booth or test their might on an MMA machine against UFC World Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis.
Geeks and gamers alike can sample this wide selection of activities at this year’s rAge Expo, which takes place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec, from 29 November to 01 December.
Tickets start at R200 and are available through Howler.
