It’s Geeked Week over at our streaming overlords, Netflix, which means a couple of things. Firstly the red N gave us a peek at the sorts of shows with a ‘2’ in their name, such as Wednesday S2, The Last Avatar S2 and the one we still can’t quite wrap our heads around – Squid Game S2. But we’re more interested in the slew of high-profile games making their way to Netflix’s 100+ strong library of games. Oh, right. Netflix does games now.
But you probably already know that. Netflix isn’t shy about running a mobile games business on the side, and it has no intentions of slowing down. After recently adding one of our favourite titles of all time – Braid – into the mix alongside mobile gaming royalty, like World of Goo, GTA, Football Manager and Sonic Mania Plus. Eventually joining them are Civilization VI and Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition.
You got games on your phone?
Those, however, aren’t slated to hit the service just yet. Netflix is holding onto those for the time being, giving players plenty of time to get on the titles it dropped yesterday. Those are Monument Valley and Spongebob: Bubble Pop F.U.N., the former of which is an acclaimed puzzle game that’ll see its sequels added as soon as 29 October and 10 December respectively.
Also announced was a Rebel Moon game that, fortunately, doesn’t require any sort of familiarity with the two (or is it four?) Rebel Moon films on the service, helmed by the king of slow motion himself, Zack Snyder. Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game arrives in 2025, leaving you plenty of time to forget it exists entirely. Great.

The most important of the lot are, of course, Civilization VI and Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition, which brings along all 32 fighters throughout the game’s life, as well as the ability to take on other players online, no matter your choice of OS. And then there’s Sid Meier’s historical epic that’ll have you taking on the world’s most esteemed leaders in a struggle for world domination. Did we mention all the expansion packs are included?
You’ll need to make do with the first Monument Valley (or seriously, Braid) in the meantime, however, as Netflix has both Civilization and Street Fighter listed on its announcement as ‘coming soon’, with a small hint that Civilization will at least arrive ahead of its successor, Civilization VII, scheduled for the back half of February 2025.
