Samsung’s Odyssey monitors are generally excellent pieces of gaming hardware, even if some iterations have proved too… enthusiastic. But there’s always room for one more feature and that feature has just turned up from the South Korean company at Gamescom.
Samsung used the German gaming convention to announce its new Odyssey 3D gaming monitor. If the title isn’t a complete giveaway, it’s a screen with 3D capabilities. Not the sort that requires special glasses, either. No, this is glasses-free 3D.

Samsung isn’t the first to leap onto this particular bandwagon. Acer and Asus have already released their entries on the market. Since the tech is gaining in popularity, Samsung is taking a crack at it.
This isn’t the first time the Odyssey 3D has ventured out into the wild. Its lenticular lens screen first ventured out at CES 2024, but at Gamescom 2024 there’s a more complete product on offer. The glasses-free 3D version of the company’s gaming monitor will (eventually) be available in 27in and 37in sizes, will feature a 4K resolution, and a 1ms response time. Other numbers include a 165Hz refresh rate, dual HDMI 2.1 ports, and a DisplayPort 1.4.

The new Odyssey doesn’t have to operate in 3D, though you’ll still pay for the tech that does the work. This includes Eye Tracking (which… tracks your eyes) and View Mapping (which adjusts the screen’s perceived depth based on eye position).
What isn’t known is when Samsung’s glasses-free 3D screen will hit the market. It’s likely that the other three Odyssey monitors on display at the German event will hit the market first. When we’ll see them in this hemisphere also remains to be seen.
