Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 family turns up in China, will likely be official soon

Galaxy Tab S10 Main

At this point, it would be more remarkable if Samsung could keep a secret. The South Korean company’s next flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (and the S10 Plus) has turned up on the Chinese regulator’s website, indicating that they’re heading to market sooner rather than later.

It’s about time, if that’s the case, because Samsung’s newest tablet could also be described as… late. Typically a refresh would show up about mid-year but we’re past that point and the Tab S10 Ultra and friends have yet to appear. It’s not unexpected — the slates are confirmed to be delayed — but the holdup might not be as extreme as previously thought.

Tab S10 and enter

The new Galaxy Tabs were both sighted in documentation held by China’s 3C (China Compulsory Certificate) website, where they appeared under their respective code names. The S10 Ultra shows up as the SM-X926C model number while the Plus carries the SM-X820 designation. In the case of the latter, this is the second time it has shown up. The first was when it was sighted on the Bureaux of Indian Standards website.

That said, there’s remarkably little detail to be found in the Chinese leak. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 devices will carry 45W wired charging. That’s all that has been confirmed by the more recent regulator appearance but previous information suggests changes to the tablet lineup’s hardware.

If reports are true, Samsung will set away from the Snapdragon processor for this release of its tablet flagships, opting instead for the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+. It’s not a bad chip, as these things go, but the company’s own Exynos might have been a better choice. If this rumour is true, we’d have to wonder why internal hardware wasn’t an option.

Samsung hasn’t announced anything official for the Galaxy Tab S10 lineup at all yet, but rumour suggests an October reveal. It probably won’t be in September, unless the South Korean giant feels like going head-to-head with the iPhone juggernaut, effectively bringing a tablet to a phone fight.
