Red Dead Redemption PC port leak is quickly disappeared from the internet

If you’re a fan of PC games, the decline of the American frontier, or both, you’ll probably be pleased to know that there’s been some movement regarding Red Dead Redemption‘s long-awaited PC port. The game’s PlayStation Store page was briefly updated to read “Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation – now on PC for the first time ever.”

It isn’t properly clear if it was an honest mistake, a purposeful tease, or a genuine oopsie but the edit didn’t stick around for too long before it was removed. That leads us to believe PC gamers will finally have the chance to roam around as John Marston sooner rather than later.

Red Dead’s not dead

Leak-spotter Wario64 first alerted everyone to the PlayStation store page update on X.com. However, the link followers among you will note the game’s page no longer features the phrase. But there’s no hiding from the internet.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of a Red Dead PC port. Earlier this year in May, a user found references to the port hidden in an update to Rockstar’s launcher site. That gives this new discovery further credence.

And it gets better – not only did the store page mention the game was already available on PC (even though it isn’t yet), but it also said “Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.”

The die-hard PC fans will note the absent mentions of improved textures or models, meaning we’re probably only looking at a port instead of a full remaster. You’d think a game as prestigious as Red Dead Redemption would warrant a full remaster, especially as we creep toward its 15-year anniversary.

Still, a port is better than nothing and we’re sure there are plenty of modders who will see to improving the textures and models themselves.
