Seeing as we’re well into the throws of winter, here are a few wintery-themed mobile games in case you’re the type who likes the idea of cold but doesn’t like to feel it in your bones. These go really well with a blanket and a mug of something warm.
A Good Snowman
Monsters get a bad rep, mostly because of their tendency to go GRAARHHH and eat people. Not this one – it just wants to build snowmen. The snag: all the snow sits inside claustrophobic gardens surrounded by hedges. To make the snowmen, you must carefully plot out the routes required to roll perfect
balls of icy goodness. Snowy Sokoban, then, but with buckets of wintry charm.

Alto’s Adventure
The polar (oho!) opposite of Snowman, this game has a feeling of freedom and openness as the titular hero blazes along on a snowboard. It’s an endless runner, but one that’s more beautiful than its peers as you rescue runaway llamas, grab coins, grind rooftops, escape grumpy elders, leap into the air to perform show-off stunts, and try not to land on your face.

Grand Mountain Adventure
Given its title, you might expect a climbing game here – in fact, the only ‘climbing’ is on ski lifts. Mostly, you zoom down slopes… but this is no simple slalom. Each mountain invites you to explore and complete challenges to
win more lift passes. Just be aware when you head into the backcountry that its deep powder comes with a side order of wolves and avalanches.

Flick Champions Winter Sports
Away from the serene and towards the frenetic with this collection of eight fast-paced chilly events. As with other Flick Champions titles, the action is finger-friendly, requiring only a few prods to soar in the ski jump or blaze around the skating rink. One ‘event’ is a three-on-three snowball fight, which we really hope makes the cut for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Snow Bros Classic
Vintage single-screen arcade fare here, with a wintry take on Bubble Bobble. Instead of dinosaurs blowing bubbles, your snowman lobs snowballs at monsters ambling about on platforms. When one is fully covered, the resulting snowball can be booted about the screen to take out more of its kind; but every tenth stage, a massive boss rocks up to remind you that beating up its chums just isn’t on.

Year Walk
This mashup of picturebook and Swedish horror dumps you in the snow and leaves you to work through cryptic puzzles. From the off, things don’t feel right as snow crunches underfoot. Before long you’re several jump scares in, wondering if the weird horse/man thing that appeared in the lake will live forever in your dreams. Still, you’ll never complain about a more peaceful winter walk again.
