The DStv Content Creator Awards are back – and it’s opening entries to all of Africa

The DStv Content Creator Awards have returned for the third year running and, for the first time in the award’s history, it’s accepting entries not just from South Africa, but the larger African continent as well. Entries are officially open now and are set to close on 21 June, so don’t hang around too long if you’re looking for recognition as South Africa’s king or queen of content.

“This year is about storytelling in all its forms. It’s about the narrative, the stories, and, most importantly, the unique points of view of each content creator. It’s about celebrating the creator’s own perspective – the unfiltered, original POV of content creation that brings stories to life,” DStv said in a release.

Got what it takes?

The 2024 edition of the Awards is shaking things up. Rather than centre the show around individual pieces of content, it’s putting a larger focus on the content creators themselves. One way it reflects the change is by introducing new categories to “echo the evolving nature and its creators because, in the world of digital storytelling, IYKYK,” whatever that means.

This year, there are four categories you can enter yourself and your content into, with the new ‘Pan-African Creator Award’ arriving to “honour creators from various African countries who are making remarkable contributions to the digital space.”

Applicable creators are allowed to enter multiple categories, but according to the Award landing page, creators may only enter once per category — so much sure you’re putting your best foot forward. Entries close on 21 June, with judging set to take place in July. DStv will announce the nominees sometime in August, and open up the public voting for applicable categories.

Content entries must have been posted online between April 2023 and April 2024. If you’re interested in entering you can do so here.
