Wireless audio company Sonos has been teasing a new product reveal on various social media platforms for tomorrow, 21 May. The event will unveil its “most requested product ever”. Which, if you’re paying attention, is probably a set of Sonos headphones.
We’ve been tracking the development of these headphones since 2021 when details turned up from the German Patent and Trademark Office, but rumours have been swirling since documents were located in 2020. It seems that these rumours are about to be put to bed.

The rumours have been extensive and, as of earlier this month, extremely detailed. The earliest leaks revealed the existence of noise-cancelling headphones from the brand, while later looks revolved around the software made by a Bluetooth company Sonos acquired in 2022. More detail turned up in the wild recently, though it has since been disappeared from the internet.
The ‘phones in question are the Sonos Ace, a name revealed by a German parts supplier for the company and also mentioned on the official website. Images were found at the same time and while they don’t reveal much about the internal workings of the Ace headphones, they do suggest a premium product in keeping with the leaked price.
The price? Around $450, or about R8,200 in local currency. But that won’t be the local price when the product lands. Exactly when the product launches is still unknown but rumours suggest a June launch. Since the reveal is set for tomorrow, giving folks a few weeks to order makes marketing sense.
