The people who haven’t yet got around to gift shopping will probably be interested to know that the Steam Deck – one of the best handheld gaming machines available in South Africa – is in the midst of a holiday special that knocks nearly R9,000 off the normal price.
Now to find Steam Deck-sized stockings
As the overly descriptive headline says, Incredible Connection has the 512GB Steam Deck currently listed for R16,000. That’s R8,700 less than the R24,700 it usually sells for. That’s not a lot of money for a rather capable handheld PC.
With a custom AMD APU powering the pixels on its 7in 16:10 60Hz 1,280 x 800 LCD display, you might not be blown away by gorgeous visuals but Valve’s handheld punches above its weight more often than not — especially if you plan on playing the less intense games in your Steam library. The onboard 40Wh battery will provide juice for longer than if you load up Cyberpunk 2077 with the settings cranked.
If you’re looking to grab one for this price, the sale ends on 31 December 2023 although we highly doubt there’ll be any stock left by then. It’s probably better to run over there right now and hope other people are slow. Good luck.
