Xbox, as usual, is late to the party. After PlayStation South Africa announced its own Black Friday deals yesterday, Xbox has followed suit. Being late might not be the worst thing in this case. Xbox’s deals appear to be considerably more wallet-friendly than PlayStation’s catalogue – an important detail in South Africa.
Xbox has all the usual discounts on offer, with deals covering Xbox Series X|S consoles, accessories, subscriptions and gift cards. The only absentee is a selection of physical games – meaning you’ll need to pay full price for something to play alongside a new console. There’s no harm in waiting ‘til Xbox kicks off its own Black Friday sale over on the Microsoft store.
“We’re thrilled to bring these exclusive Black Friday deals to our gaming community in South Africa. This is our way of expressing gratitude for the incredible support we’ve received. Whether you’re stepping into the next generation with the Xbox Series S or unlocking the full potential of gaming with the Xbox Series X, these deals are designed to enhance your gaming journey,” says Ian Hepplewhite, CEO of Prima Interactive – Xbox’s South African distributor.
A once in a year Black Friday opportunity
If you’ve still got an Xbox One clinging to life, it might finally be time to let it rest. For good. There probably won’t be a better time to pick yourself up either an Xbox Series X or S than during Xbox’s Black Friday sale.
Specifically, Prima is knocking R2,000 off the price of the standalone Xbox Series X (1TB), coming in at R12,000 – a saving of R2,000. We’re not sure why you wouldn’t pick up either the Diablo IV or Forza Horizon 5 Xbox Series X (1TB) bundles instead – which have also been priced at R12,000 – the same as the standalone console without any games. That’s… quite the deal. Forza Horizon 5 can’t be that bad, right?
