When someone mentions “wearables” in the tech space, we’re betting the first thing that pops to your head is a smartwatch, a pair of wireless earbuds, or possibly even AR glasses like the kit Apple is betting big on. If you thought of a smart ring, we’d call you a liar or a fan of the Oura. Or, perhaps, you just read the headline. Whatever the case, a “Samsung Galaxy Ring” is reportedly on the horizon from the South Korean giant.
Ring a ring a Rosie
That’s according to a report from The Elec (via SamMobile), which claims that Samsung has already begun work on bringing the wearable smart ring market out of the niche it currently finds itself in.
As per the report, Samsung has a supplier — Meiko — in place for the PCBs (printed circuit boards).. Anyone familiar with the S23’s innards might recognize the company as the maker of the smartphone’s HDI PCBs (high-density interconnected printed circuit boards).
We’re not just going off the word of some South Korean publication even if the news is rather solid. Samsung itself hasn’t been keeping the secret particularly quiet either, with the smartphone manufacturer securing a trademark for the name, along with a Reddit user spotting a recent addition of ‘Ring Support’ in a recent beta for the Samsung Health app.

Despite all the evidence, it’s still worth adding a pinch of salt to your afternoon news. The Reddit post in particular could be referring to Galaxy Ring, or it could be hinting at a future of third-party rings being accessible on the app. Or, you know, Samsung could scrap the entire idea tomorrow. We don’t think that’s the case. If it were to turn up anywhere it’d be at the company’s upcoming Unpacked event, taking place next week Wednesday, 26 July.
