Apple is rumoured to be working on an app designed to boost both physical and mental health. You could soon find yourself typing ‘Dear Apple’ instead of ‘Dear diary’…if the rumour mill is on the right track.
This comes as the company continues its investment in healthcare technology. The giant tech is reportedly working on an iPhone journaling app aimed at encouraging users to jot down their daily activities, according to the Wall Street Journal.
An Apple a day…
The app is expected to analyse a user’s daily activities and then make recommendations. Based on what you jot down, the app could make suggestions on alternative topics to journal about. This will hopefully lift your mood. It’s expected to have a feature called ‘All Day People Discovery’, which could point out the difference between friends and colleagues by linking your proximity to the people and your journal, according to Engadget. It remains unclear if this will only pick up information on users who have an iPhone, the app, or those with other phones.

You’d be correct to worry about sharing personal information with a tech company. According to what we know so far, the app is expected to keep your information on the device for a short period before deleting it. However… if you really think about it, how much do we really know about what goes on with the bits of personal information we share with tech companies?
Apple’s journaling app is expected to compete with Day One, which is a subscription-based journaling app that received a 2014 Apple Design Award.
