Over the years, Microsoft has been persistent in its attempt to get people to use its search engine, Bing, over Google. Set up a Windows device and note how many times the company prompts you to use Bing over Google, with a note informing you how its features are just as good as Google’s.
Despite its efforts, Google remains the biggest search engine in the world and it’s also a verb. You don’t just use Google to search, you also Google most things online.
In its latest attempt to become a better search engine, the tech giant is reportedly working on a version of Bing that is powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This comes via The Informer, which cites two people with direct knowledge of the plan.

Microsoft invested $1 billion in OpenAI, the creator of the so-hot-right-now ChatGPT chatbot in 2019. The San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company’s partnership with Microsoft aimed to develop AL technologies for Microsoft’s Azure cloud service.
The AI-powered version of Bing could see the search engine using ChatGPT’s AI to answer queries instead of simply showing a list of links when one uses the search engine. Whether this will be enough to move the needle more in Bing’s direction remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something different.
According to The Informer, the new search feature could be available by the end of March this year.
