As crazy as it seems, Disney+ has already been in South Africa since May. But unless you’re an owner of an Android TV box or DStv decoder, you might have missed out on the service. That’s because it missed some of the major TV app stores, and the Disney+ web portal is one of the worst services we’ve ever used. It lost out on plenty of customers by postponing its console release. That changes today. At least, for PlayStation (5) owners.
Goodbye Stranger Things, hello… Willow?
See, the Xbox Games Store already has access to Disney+. It managed to gain access all the way back in September. It’s the PlayStation that’s behind the curve here. But that doesn’t matter. It’s here. Finally.
Disney+ failed to mention when or even if a release for the PS4 would be on the way. We can assume it’ll release there, eventually. Considering the fact that most of the PlayStation gamers in the country are still stuck with their PS4s, it would be a huge market to turn down. Be patient. Your time will come.

You’ll still have to put up with the awful UI that comes with Disney+. If you’re wondering why the biggest media entertainment company in the world struggles to give its South African fanbase a decent app, then you can keep wondering. We guess it’s easier and cheaper to just throw us a re-skinned Hotstar app and call it a day.
The PS5 app joins the ever-growing list of devices Disney+ is currently available on. Check them out:
