LG smart TV customers now qualify for three free months of Apple TV+

You might need to try extra hard to find things to get excited about this holiday what with how the rest of the year has gone. But, if you’ve bought an LG smart TV in the last four years (and it’s running webOS 4.0 or newer) and haven’t yet signed up for Apple TV+, there’s something you need to know.

Apple TV+ for free? Sign us up

If you just purchased yourself a new LG TV – and we’re only talking about the legal means of acquisition here – then you’re eligible for three months of free Apple TV+. The TV doesn’t even need to be that new. LG says the offer “applies to all compatible 4K and 8K LG Smart TV models from 2018 to 2022 running webOS 4.0 to webOS 2022.”

The only other caveat is you need to be a new Apple TV+ subscriber. You can’t cancel your existing subscription for three months and still score. To capitalise on this, you’ll need to open the Apple TV+ app on your LG TV and follow the redemption instructions.

Once you’ve claimed your freebie, your next task is deciding what to watch first. Your options include this year’s Best Picture Academy Award Winner CODA, the heart-warming football comedy Ted Lasso, or Spirited, a festive musical comedy starring Ryan Renolds and Will Farrel. You’ll also have access to US sports like Friday Night Baseball and Major League Football Soccer (coming February 2023), if you’re into that.

The offer ends on 31 January 2023, so if you’re particularly keen on US Soccer then maybe wait for next month before applying. And if you’re just along for the free ride, don’t forget to cancel after your free three months, or you’ll be charged R125/m until you do.
