Sadly, fuel isn’t getting cheaper in South Africa this month. Diesel, petrol and paraffin prices are set to increase on Wednesday, 2 November. Today would be a good day to fill up your tank.
Diesel prices will see a massive spike with an increase of R1.43 a litre and petrol, both 93 and 95, will increase by R0.51. Paraffin will also increase by R0.77. Gas is the only fuel that will drop this month with a decrease of R0.98.

Inland, you can expect to pay R25.49 for a litre of diesel – a massive jump from the R17.20 per litre that you would have paid a year ago.

‘No imminent shortage of liquid fuels in SA’
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) says there is no shortage of fuel in South Africa. The Department released a statement last week in response to the Liquid Fuel Wholesale Association’s warning of a possible fuel shedding in SA.
The Association noted how the need to strategically build stocks, as recommended by a commission of inquiry report in 2006.
“The DMRE would like to assure South Africans that there is no imminent shortage of liquid fuels in the country, and predictions made by the Liquid Fuel Wholesalers Association (LFWA) are very unfortunate,” notes the Department in a statement released last week.
