You know that moment when you receive a video, image, or GIF on WhatsApp and you forward it only to realise the text caption didn’t send? You then have to copy the text and send it separately. Well, that may soon come to an end.
The Meta-owned messaging platform is testing a new version of WhatsApp Beta which could enable you to forward the media with the text attached…as you received it. The new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo. WhatsApp beta 2.22.23.15 is available from the Google Play Store to a few users testing it on Android. It could soon also be available to beta users on iOS.
So what if you don’t want to send the text and only want to share the media? Based on the beta, the update could also give you the ability to only forward an image, video, GIF, or document without a caption.
“WhatsApp is working on sharing documents with a caption, for a future update of the app,” notes WABetaInfo.

Tip: Share instead of forwarding…for now
The saying goes, there’s more than one way to share an attachment.
Here’s a method for sending both the caption and media to a contact while you wait for the forwarding update to arrive. Instead of forwarding the message, try selecting the media (which includes the caption), then go to the three little dots at the top of your WhatsApp window and select Share. It’ll share both the media and the caption.
Until the update turns up, you’ll just have to continue to either Share or retype the caption and send it separately.
