Mark Gurman, the seemingly always-informed Apple whisperer, says Apple is planning to hold its next launch event on 7 September. Two guesses as to what that’s for.
If you guessed an iPhone 14 launch then well done. One gold star for you. This is according to Gurman’s sources, “people with knowledge on the matter”. So our previous guess wasn’t too far off. He’s usually spot on when it comes to the goings-on at Apple so we don’t have any reason to doubt him.
It also helps that Apple is a company of habit. It almost always holds iPhone events in the first half of September and usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. So Wednesday, 7 September, seems on the money.
Time to board the Apple hype train?
This will be the first Apple event in what looks like a busy launch season. We’re also expecting to see a host of new Macs sporting the new M2 chip, a new range of iPads, and a few new Apple watches. Chances are high that new Watches will join the iPhones at the 7 Sept. event. It’s likely we’ll see new Macs and iPads a little later, in October perhaps.

The devices will likely take a little longer to reach store shelves. According to Gurman, some retail store employees were told to prepare for a major new product launch on 16 September. Then it will be another month or two before the devices make their way down to South Africa.
This is of course still unofficial. Apple could completely flip the script and launch the iPhones *before* September. Or after. Can you even imagine that?
It probably won’t.
But it could.
