South African teams will go through six rounds of qualifiers, scattered around the country. Winners will claim their spot at the National Final, taking place at this year’s Comic-Con (22-25 September). Victory-claimers at Comic-Con will be invited to attend the Red Bull Campus Clutch World Final taking place in Brazil in December.

The inaugural Campus Clutch took place last year, with 50 countries taking part. More than 400 events took place, built around 25,000 university Valorant gamers. This year’s event hopes to draw a larger crowd to work with.

“I always look forward to esports talent showing up and popping off. When there is an opportunity to potentially compete against the best in the world, South African esports players bring their A Game and Campus Clutch will be no different. Considering last year’s global winner was an African team, I’m looking forward to seeing the South Africans show up and pop off,” said Sam Wright, better known as Tech Girl.

After the South African qualifiers, the winning team will compete in the World Finals, taking place in São Paulo, Brazil in December. The winner there is crowned the World Champion (until next year) and could walk away with €20,000 in prize money, and a VIP spot at the 2023 Valorant Champions Tour Event.

We’re not exactly sure why, but that’s just how it is. Get over it, or start your own Valorant tournament. Varsity students can sign up over here.
