Standard Bank wants customers using Apple Pay to re-register their accounts

Apple Pay

Standard Bank wants customers who use Apple Pay on its platform to re-register their accounts. The bank is currently performing scheduled routine maintenance on its backend. If you’re one of the affected parties, don’t fret, re-registering is quite simple.

Standard Bank has sent out emails to all its clients who may be affected by the maintenance taking place. The bank is still busy with the maintenance, with the official dates being 13 June to 14 June.

Fixing things before they break

“We ask you do this so that you can continue to use Apple Pay without disruptions. Your profile will therefore be made inactive so that you can go ahead with this re-registration. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience you may experience as a result.” said the bank in its mailer.

Luckily for those affected, re-registering is fairly straight forward.

To begin the process, you’ll need the Standard Bank mobile app, which you probably already have if you used Apple Pay. Then, you just need to follow these steps and you’re golden.

Customers will only be able to reregister their accounts on 14 June. Luckily, that’s today. So, when you get a few minutes, use it to re-register your account. You may need it back sooner rather than later in case of an emergency.

If you aren’t already an Apple Pay user, you may need to do some research. The e-wallets latest addition was the Apple Pay Later feature – which lets you buy something and pay it off over a few months with no extra fees or interest. It almost sounds too good to be true.
