Disney+ is coming soon. Real soon. The streaming service marks its debut in South Africa on 18 May, less than a week away. Disney has been on quite the campaign for Disney+ in South Africa, offering a cheaper yearly subscription for those that sign up extra early. This is still ongoing, so get over there quick if you’d like to save some money.
At the end of April, DStv announced that viewers could subscribe to Disney+ directly on their Explora decoder, making payments simpler. But now, DStv has begun sending subscribers who are part of the DStv Rewards Loyalty Programme an “exclusive offer” for a limited-time free subscription.
The exclusive offer it is punting is three months of Disney+, all on the DStv credit card.
Anyone not already on the programme can join without spending a cent. All one needs to do in order to join is have at least one active DStv subscription. That’s it. Customers who take DStv up on their offer also need to provide a cellphone number so that DStv can link your account.
If you’re looking to join the loyalty programme, you can do so here. Once that’s sorted, you’re in line for some bonus Disney+.
Extra savings
In addition to three free months of Disney’s new service, DStv says it will offer ‘bundle and save options’, though no official prices have been announced. Only DStv customers can take advantage of these particular savings.
Disney+ will join the ranks of all the other streaming services DStv has connected, such as Netflix, Showmax, and YouTube.
If you can’t be bothered hassling with DStv (and rightly so) then you’ll be left stuck with paying the full amount, which works out to R120 a month or R1,190 a year. But since you can, you may as well save the cost of a three-month sub and decide if you want to keep Disney+ after that.
