In case you didn’t know, Microsoft is gearing up for the Surface Pro 8’s launch next week, and has a showcase planned for this Wednesday. Unfortunately for the tech goliath, a handful of spoilers have surfaced ahead of the event, and they leave very little up to the imagination.

Rumours on the Surface

A tweet from notorious leaker @Shadow_Leak tells all, accompanied by an image that looks a lot like a retail listing. The tweet claims that Microsoft’s new flagship 2-in-1 tablet/laptop will ship sporting a 120Hz 13in display fitted into a gorgeously slim and stylish screen.

The Surface Pro 8 will also have no USB Type-A ports, opting instead for a pair of Thunderbolt supported USB Type-C ports. Additionally, the Surface Pro 8 will apparently support removable SSDs, meaning you can trade storage in and out depending on what you want to use the laptop for.

Design-wise, it doesn’t look like a huge departure from 2019’s Surface Pro 7. The only major differences we can see are that the display is slimmer, and so is the bezel, particularly along the screen’s width. But we’ll have to wait until we get a better look at it before we start making hard comparisons.

According to Shadow_Leak the Pro 8 will land with an asking price of ¥5169, which is $800 States-side and R11,800 here in SA, but expect that price to go up when it lands here in earnest.

Microsoft’s event is scheduled for later this week, on Wednesday the 22nd of September. There, alongside the 8 Pro, we’re excited to see Microsoft’s new Surface lineup which may make its way to South Africa.
