Chery, the car brand, launches in South Africa (again)

Chery

One of China’s major car brands, Chery, has announced that it’s officially established in South Africa with a head office based in Bryanston, Johannesburg. It plans to open up to 30 dealerships in the coming months which will feature its range of vehicles.

While it’s not the first time we’re seeing the Chery brand in our country, it’s re-establishing itself by launching new vehicles into the market. Since 2007 it has been available for existing vehicles as a point-of-contact for after-sales support.

“For Chery, the South African office holds a very special significance. The country welcomed our vehicles with open arms in 2007, and we have been supporting our customer base of over 15 000 owners with parts and servicing ever since,” says Tony Liu, executive deputy general manager of Chery South Africa.

The company anticipates receiving its first vehicle shipment in ‘late 2021’, so we reckon it’ll be ready to start selling those vehicles come Christmas bonus time.

“By entering the market directly, customers will be able to experience the best that Chery has to offer, both in customer service and in our next-generation of products. If our experience in other global markets is anything to go by, then customers will be blown away,” Liu continues.
