Sony’s Play at Home initiative was a nice little treat for PlayStation owners back when things started to go awry in 2020. The company announced that would hand out a few free games when everyone went into lockdown during the height of the global pandemic, just to keep folks a little more entertained and distracted from the chaos of the outside world. While Sony hasn’t been especially generous with its freebies in comparison to the likes of Epic Games, it’s clearly trying to turn that around as it’s announced a total a ten free games for all PlayStation owners in the next few weeks.
So if you’re in the market for free games that are generally rather good, then you should probably keep an eye on the PlayStation Store. From 25 March all the way through to 22 April, you can pick up some excellent titles. These include:
- Abzu
- Enter The Gungeon
- Rez Infinite
- Subnautica
- The Witness
- Thumper
Ay Sony, you got any more of them free games?
If you own a PSVR headset then you’re in for a treat all your own as Sony is also giving away some of its best virtual reality games, including Paper Beast, Moss and Astro Bot Rescue Mission.
Yet the centrepiece of this bout of giveaways arrives on 23 April: Horizon Zero Dawn will be free for all PlayStation owners. Widely regarded as one of the best Sony exclusives on the PS4 and beloved by seemingly everyone, Horizon is an excellent addition to any gamer’s PS4 library. You’ll be able to grab it for free as long as you nab it before 14 May. That’s just over three weeks so if you miss that window, you only have yourself to blame.
