Two of Blizzards IPs, dungeon crawler Diablo and hero-shooter Overwatch, had their upcoming installments announced back in 2019, causing fans of both franchises to foam at the mouth with excitement. No release date was given at the time, and still hasn’t been revealed, but we know this much now: they’re not coming out this year.
According the The Verge, Activision Blizzard revealed during its most recent earnings call that it doesn’t anticipate either game being a part of it’s financials for 2021. Rather, both are expected to release next year, though no specific date was given.
Disappointing as this is, we’re fortunately not going to be totally starved for Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 content this year. BlizzConline, Blizzard’s annual convention turned virtual, kicks off in two weeks, on the 19th of February, and we’re sure to see some trailers and announcements then. Diablo‘s mobile title, Diablo: Immortals is set to release this year, and Blizzard has recently announced that they’re working on more mobile titles too, so at least we’ve got that to look forward to.
