Remember when the Xbox Series X and Series S were up for pre-order a few weeks ago? We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t, they sold out so quickly that the whole event seems like a false memory. With the official launch less than a month away, folks are desperate to get their hands on the next generation of gaming, which is hard to do when you can’t actually find the consoles. Fortunately for South Africans, Microsoft has confirmed that more stock of the Xbox Series X and Series S is heading our way, just in time for the console’s launch.
The Xbox Series X is best kind of X to have
The second wave of Xbox Series X pre-orders from all the same retailers involved in the original wave will open on 19 October, which is… pretty soon so you better make sure your wallet is ready. The additional stock provided to South Africa is to (hopefully) meet the massive demand for the console come the 10 November launch date.
Speaking to this new allocation of stock CEO of Xbox distributor Prima Interactive, Ian Hepplewhite, said, “Microsoft has prioritized South Africa, and providing additional stock is confirmation of their commitment to our market. Worldwide pre-orders have sold out thus we recommend that customers register their interest on retailers “Wish list” before 19 October. We are on track to deliver the stock on time for launch on 10 November.”
The Xbox Series X (the powerful big boy) and the Xbox Series S (the smaller, more affordable version) are both launching on 10 November and will retail for R12,000 and R7,000 respectively. We’d advise being quick on the pre-orders though, given how the last batch of consoles sold out in hours.
