Where you can pre-order the Xbox Series X in South Africa

Xbox

After last week’s debacle with PlayStation 5 pre-orders, Microsoft has had the advantage of learning from it’s rival’s mistakes. After Sony just opened orders for their next gen console without telling anyone and causing an absolute furore, Microsoft very wisely got out in front of the internet and made it very clear when pre-orders for the next generation of Xbox start and where you can find them. We already know what the price for the Xbox Series X and Series S but now we know where we can find them. It’s the usual list of gaming-related stores but there are some weird additions too…

Coming in at R12,000 for the Xbox Series X and R7,000 for the Xbox Series S, pre-orders for the consoles opened this morning and according to the Xbox South Africa Twitter account, the list of retailers supplying the next Xbox is rather large:

So some of the usual suspects such as BT Games and Games 4U but the ones that stand out include Sportscene, Total Sports and PnP. Pick n’ Pay makes sense in a weird, tangential kind of way while the two sports shops are just… bizarre.

Retailers have said that they expect the demand for the next generation of Xbox to be extremely high, so that might explain why they’re providing it to a broader range of retailers than usual. So if you’re wanting to get in on Microsoft’s next generation of gaming, it might be an idea to act sooner rather than later. Oh, and both consoles come with a single Series X/S controller so if you want another one you’ll have to fork out an additional R1,500. Expensive controller but it’s the next generation, what did you expect?
