Joining a string of other media outlets, Marvel is doing their part to keep people inside by convincing them that it’s actually far more fun to see Captain America and Black Panther go head-to-head with the X-Men than it is to walk around outside and spread a deadly contagion. We’re here to tell you they’re absolutely correct!
While it’s nice to see Audible making a whole load of audiobooks free for people stuck inside during these uncertain times, and DSTV offering up a range of channels for non-subscribers to stream for no charge, what about those dorks like me that prefer to read books with pictures?
Look, at Stuff we work as a team but I, Brad Lang, am fairly certain this latest free service is something only I will make use of as a disgustingly huge comic book nerd. Always a good time to start a re-read train! Marvel Unlimited, the publisher’s app which deals with the digital versions of the comics, has a bunch of comics free for all users!
The app, which offers of 27,000 comics from characters all across the Marvel Universe, usually charges users $9,99 per month to access the catalogue of issues. Yet due to how people are in dire need of entertainment, you’ll be able to read dozens of excellent comic runs totally free. Some highlights include:
- Civil War
- The Avengers (2018)
- Black Panther (2016)
- Captain America: Out of Time
- Black Widow (2016)
- Captain Marvel (2014)
There’s a bunch more to choose from including some decent Thanos comics and the very mixed bag that was Avengers vs X-Men but they’re all an enjoyable read. If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have wanted to get into comics (it’s daunting, I know), this offer is a great place to start. Excelsior!
