Here’s our roundup of Bethesda’s blood-, gore- and fun-filled E3 event

The Bethesda E3 2019 conference has produced some of the most exciting announcements at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo thus far. We now know what’s coming up for franchises like Fallout, Doom, Wolfenstein and The Elder Scrolls.

Before E3 2019, however, Bethesda did confirm that we won’t see Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield at the conference, which put a damper on our expectations. Luckily the publisher showed us some thrilling content that we can look forward to.

    Doom: Eternal

We finally know when to expect the next installation of Doom, called Doom Eternal. The id Software’s sequel to the 2016 series reboot, will launch 22 November. id Software showed off new gameplay for what it’s calling “the ultimate power fantasy” and the game will include a new multiplayer experience called Battlemode, where two player-controlled demons will take on a fully loaded slayer. More details will be announced at QuakeCon 2019.

    Elder Scrolls: Blades for Switch

So what if there’s no full-fat Elder Scrolls game coming this year. The mobile Elder Scrolls game is heading to Switch later this year and will be available to play for free. Don’t worry if you’ve already claimed scads of treasure and built up your town on the mobile version — the Switch version of Elder Scrolls Blades will have full cross-play and cross-progression support back and forth with the game on iOS and Android.

    Fallout 76: Nuclear Winter

They said it themselves — Fallout 76 didn’t get off to the best start at launch. Nevertheless, the publisher announced a number of new updates for the post-apocalyptic title, including the addition of Nuclear Winter, a battle royale mode. Of course they announced a battle royale mode. Did you expect anything else? You did? Well how about Wastelanders, an expansion that adds actual NPCs to Fallout 76 as well? That was also announced. It should help the embattled title to seem just a little more… lively.

    Ghostwire: Tokyo

Did Thanos just snap his fingers? This one’s a new creepy action adventure game from Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami and the studio that created The Evil Within. Tango Gameworks unveiled Ghostwire: Tokyo and it doesn’t look like your typical survival horror game. In fact, it might just be one of our favourite announcements at E3 so far.

    Rage 2

The recently released title will now receive weekly content updates — or, as the trailer puts it, “new s#%t dropping weekly.” These drops will consist of additions like cheats (such as low gravity), vehicles (like the Armadillo), game modes, enemies, and pilotable mechs. The developers are also working on Rise of the Ghosts, an expansion that will introduce more story content, new weapons and abilities, another enemy faction, and new areas to explore in the wasteland.

    Wolfenstein: Youngblood

We’re quickly approaching Wolfenstein: Youngblood’s 26 July release and Bethesda showed us more gameplay at E3, as well as a new trailer. The latest trailer gives us another look at the monumental task the Blazkowicz twins will face: finding their father. Will he still be able to kick as much Nazi buttock as he used to when he does turn up?

    Deathloop

The studio responsible for the Dishonored series and mind-bending sci-fi thriller, Prey, is back with a new game called Deathloop. We don’t have a lot of info on this one but know that it’s about two assassins known as ‘The Captain’ and ‘Jules’ attempting to kill each other (and their targets) while stuck in a time loop in a mysterious island known as Blackreef. This one looks intriguing, and the trailer just left us wanting more.
