Cyberpunk 2077 gets an April 2020 release date and… Keanu Reeves

There aren’t many upcoming games that have us as hyped as Cyberpunk 2077. We’ve been waiting a long, long time for this, and finally, we know when to boot up our Xboxes for the download. We also got a glimpse of an oddly familiar face in the official E3 trailer — good ol’ Keanu Reeves.

At Microsoft’s E3 Xbox briefing, we were totally shook when a likeness of Keanu Reeves appeared at the end of the new trailer for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming open-world RPG. Reeves has been busy in the gaming department for a while now, with a John Wick game called John Wick Hex on the way, so perhaps we shouldn’t be that surprised. Also, the dude’s immortal, so it’s totally fitting for him to play a character in a game set in the distant future.

Reeves even took to the stage in person to reveal the game’s 16 April 2020 launch date. We wouldn’t want to hear it from any other person, to be honest. The game will arrive first for Xbox One and Windows 10, and is already available for pre-order. Check out the trailer below.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of CD Projekt Red’s most ambitious endeavours yet — an open-world RPG set in a highly technological and futuristic setting. It’s actually an American metropolis called Night City, and you play a mercenary roaming it doing… things. Your actions will influence the outcome of events you encounter in the game, and you’ll be able to customise your character according to your actions (we’re thinking Fable-like character development maybe?).

It’s reassuring to know that you’ll meet the Keanu Reeves character at some point throughout the game. Now if that isn’t motivation enough to get you through a massive open-worlder, we don’t know what is.
