TikTok is in crisis mode. It doesn’t want to lose its best (and worst) creators to the giant that is YouTube. Something needs to be done. It could cut creators a larger slice of the pie – but who are we kidding? This is TikTok. What it is doing is allowing creators to upload exclusive content behind a paywall, the platform announced. The new programme, known as Series, will allow creators to create collections – able to hold 80 videos in each. Creators can then sell access to these collections at their own rates – as long as it falls…

The European Union and European Commission have involved themselves in WhatsApp’s privacy policies. Their consensus? Some things need to change over at Meta. The most important of which is Meta’s promise to make it ‘easier’ for users to reject updates to the app’s terms of service. In turn, Meta will be forced to clearly explain how rejection of the terms and services will affect their experience in the app, according to the Commission. Should they so desire, users can hold off on agreeing to new terms of service agreements and review them at their leisure. Self-inflicted wounds WhatsApp brought its…
Nobody likes spam. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. No wait, that’s sand. Spam isn’t any better. It’s a problem that cannot be easily solved. Meta’s WhatsApp is looking to make some changes that should hopefully alleviate some of the irritation sand spam causes. A new feature, first spotted by WABetaInfo and dubbed the fitting name of ‘Silence Unknown Callers’ will allow WhatsApp to automatically filter out any incoming calls from unknown numbers. Thus, leaving users more time to go about their day without any additional frustration. Don’t let the spam get to you What with…
If using the native Apple Mail app is as soul-destroying for you as it is for us, you might want to focus up. Microsoft has announced “Outlook Mac for All” meaning that Mac owners will now be able to use the client free of charge. Before, a Microsoft 365 subscription or direct purchase of Office was needed to use the service anywhere. Now, it’s available on the App Store, missing that exorbitant price tag we’ve come to know. A new Outlook on life (and Mac) When Microsoft redesigned the Mac app’s interface back in 2020, it brought some version-specific features…
It’s been less than a week since the Department of Energy (DoE) dashed our dreams of a petrol price decrease and instead raised the price of petrol, diesel and paraffin. The worst part? It’s probably going to happen again in April. At least, that’s what the latest data (captured on 03 March) from the Central Energy Fund indicates. If you are still stretching your petrol from last week’s pre-increase fill-up, you may not be as worried about a potential increase. For now, at least. Come the final week of March, and you and your car will be singing a different…
The Nothing Phone (1) might have its own speaker to connect to soon Nothing, makers of such devices as the Nothing Phone (1) and the Ear (1) TWS, might have something new on the horizon. According to (alleged) promotional renders, it’s looking like Nothing is gearing up for the launch of its first speaker. The news first appeared on 91Mobiles, via reliable leaker Kuba Wojciechowski. The renders appear to be a part of the company’s marketing campaign, giving us a look at the speaker’s boxy design. The volume and power button placement is visible on the device’s side, with the…
Some things can’t be improved upon. Look at The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker or Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, and tell us we’re wrong. Until recently, we counted Sony’s DualSense controller amongst that list. And then we got to see the DualSense Edge in person. We’d heard about Sony’s ‘pro’ controller for months, putting it in the back of our minds, convinced that it couldn’t topple the DualSense from its perch. How wrong we were. While Stuff was playing around with the PSVR 2, we were offered the chance to briefly check out the DualSense Edge. There was just one…
Free TV is dead. Kinda. eMedia, the company behind Openview, recently announced the launch of ‘Ultraview’ – a new pay-tv service that’ll add additional “bouquets” of content, appearing alongside the free channels that Openview currently offers. Ultraview officially hits the small screen at noon on Monday, 6 March. For the uninitiated, Openview’s whole schtick is free TV. After paying Openview’s one-time fee to own their decoder and satellite dish, that is. We’d rather have Ultramel Ultraview runs as a subscription-based service, with eMedia stating that it would offer ‘niche content’ across several packages. The first of which is the Pride…
Plans are underway for a R2.7 billion solar plant, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has announced. The plant will take refuge in the Eastern Cape, with its primary goal being to pull the area out of the load shedding the country is currently experiencing. Got the greenies? The project, known as Parsons Power Park, will eventually add an additional 150MW of energy to the area’s grid. Phase one of the project begins construction in November this year, taking an estimated ten months to complete. The first phase is responsible for delivering 25MW of energy to the city. Once finished, phase…
Stuff recently got its hands on Sony’s latest venture into the world of virtual reality; the PSVR 2. Thanks to the PS5 accessory’s immediate popularity, we only got to play around with it for the better part of… three hours. It certainly wasn’t enough time for a full review, though it was enough time to get a sense of where Sony’s head has been at for the six years since the first PSVR was released. We entered our three-hour playtest with somewhat muted expectations. Sure, everything about Sony’s follow-up is better than the previous iteration — on paper. It would…
