You'll often catch me dreaming of a Wind Waker remaster. Or sleeping. One of the two.

No more Mahi Mahi? We’ve been thirsty for news, any news on the release of Dolphin on Steam ever since it was announced for a Q2 release in March of this year. We’ve quenched our thirst – though not in the way we were hoping. Nintendo has hit the open-source emulator with a Cease and Desist letter, coupled with a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notice, placing the entire project’s Steam future in jeopardy, according to the developer’s blog post. “It is with much disappointment that we have to announce that the Dolphin on Steam release has been indefinitely…

Fujifilm, makers of fine cameras and printers, have done it again. What exactly is that; you ask? Well, it has added a new entry-level camera to its X-series of APS-C mirrorless cameras, the X-S20. It’s supposedly better suited to travellers and, particularly, vloggers due to its lightweight design, autofocus features, and ‘Vlog mode’ that makes fiddling with the front-facing video settings that much simpler (and better). Better yet, it’s hitting South African shores (and shelves) in June, with a starting price of R24,900. Best of all, that price is somehow lower than the starting price in the US — $1,300…

Curro – you know Curro, one of the country’s largest indie school networks — is set to host another esports tournament, this time for students in the Western Cape. The Curro Clash LAN, as it’s named, will take place at the Curro Durbanville Primary School on 23 and 24 June 2023. The point? Because it’s awesome. But also, as a “fantastic way to showcase a school’s strengthened commitment to developing generations for a digital world,” says Magdeleen de Kock, the school’s Digital Transformation Facilitator and eSports project lead. This is the second Curro Clash LAN, with the first having taken…

WhatsApp continues its streak of usable updates, with the Meta-owned messenger’s latest beta hinting at the introduction of unique usernames. The news comes from WABetaInfo (where else?), noting the addition of a ‘WhatsApp username’ after updating to the 2.23.11.15 beta build on Android. As it is, WhatsApp uses phone numbers to distinguish users which could lead to numerous privacy issues. It also makes adding new contacts impossible without giving out access to your phone number. Should it continue to develop unique usernames (which looks likely) it could be a method to keep one’s number invisible to unknown users in group chats…

“Everybody loves streaming their video games, right?” is how we envision Sony’s meeting thinking up Project Q – a new, handheld “console” that supposedly makes it easier to play your PS5 games — going. You know, instead of playing your actual PlayStation 5. We’re not marketing experts but we could have told Sony months ago that no, people most certainly do not like streaming games. Unfortunately, we weren’t invited and now we’re stuck with a wannabe PSP that needs the internet to play games already installed on your PS5. Uh, cool, we guess? Project Q was officially announced at Wednesday’s…

We get it. You’re tired. It’s cold. In a perfect world, you’d have stayed up past your bedtime to watch the PlayStation Showcase at 10 PM on a Wednesday evening. But, noone is perfect. Fortunately (for you), we did stay up to watch what Sony has cooking for the PS5 (and PS4, apparently? Do developers still do tha- … — Oh, yes.) By the end, we’d gotten over an hour’s worth of trailers, along with a piece of gameplay here and there. Developers love to throw out “Not actual gameplay” huh?. If you’d like to see the entirety of the…

Note: This review contains minor spoilers We find ourselves trying to remember a time before Breath of the Wild. Before gaming was changed forever. To be fair, that was six years ago. Short-form media hasn’t really helped us retain those memories. Fortunately, that doesn’t matter. Vague recollections or not, there’s something out that’ll wash those memories away entirely: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. We haven’t seriously forgotten about Breath of the Wild. We did, however, have to constantly remind ourselves that Nintendo’s latest definition of ‘magnum opus’ is a continuation in the ‘of the’ series of Zelda…

Yeah, the Rand is struggling. Load shedding has only gotten worse. And we must work while Tears of the Kingdom taunts us from afar. Let’s just say things haven’t been going swimmingly. Oddly enough though, we can’t say the same about the country’s petrol prices in June. Don’t get us wrong; they’re anything but cheap. Though, if the Central Energy Fund’s (CEF) latest predictions are correct, we could see a R1 drop across the board. Yes, that includes you, buyer of illuminating paraffin. So, who do we have to thank for the expected drop in prices come Wednesday, 7 June?…

WhatsApp has been talking about it forever (no, seriously) but the platform has finally done it. Messages can now be edited on WhatsApp. Okay, when we say ‘now’ we don’t mean right this minute – unless you’re one of the lucky few that have the latest build of the app. We certainly haven’t gotten the feature yet, though we have been watching others jealously from afar who do have the ability to edit messages. Change is inevitable Anyone that’s used Telegram before will know all about editing messages. Long-press a message, tap the edit button (the little pencil), and make…
