Soon, you’ll find out if your parents love you. Or perhaps they just want you to shut the hell up and let them watch Carte Blanche in peace for once. Either way, who cares? Yesterday, Nike announced that its Training Club workout videos would be arriving on Netflix. The first batch (of two) is set to release next week, 30 December – just in time for everyone’s New Year resolutions. As it is now, these training videos are only available on the sporting brand’s Android and iOS apps. Perhaps Nike finally realised that the practicality of working out while watching videos on your smartphone isn’t practical at all. Now, there’s no excuse to so easily give up on those resolutions. Unless you’re sharing someone else’s Netflix account. If that’s the case… we can’t help…
Way back in 2019, Netflix began looking for a way of restricting account sharing – before it put its plans on hold at the beginning of the pandemic. It looks like the streaming platform could finally drop the hammer in 2023. This follows a report from The Wall Street Journal, which cites people close to the matter. The report claims that there are around 100 million users that aren’t paying for the service themselves. And following Netflix’s first loss of subscribers (some 200,000) in over a decade, the company feels that it’s missing out on quite a large piece of…
The world of solar-powered car racing is more extensive than you might think. Heck, even South Africa has gotten into it, in the form of the Ilanga Cup and the Sasol Solar Challenge. Teams of engineers compete to build their own solar racer and pit them against each other in endurance races. And the Sunswift 7 has just set a new Guinness World Record in a 1,000km race, completing it eight minutes faster than the previous holder. The Sunswift 7 was built by a team from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). It clocked in its 1,000 kilometres in…
We’ve all been there. You accidentally send some heartfelt message — meant for your spouse – to your boss. Or you send a nasty message to the right person, but come to your senses a couple of seconds later. You panic, searching for the familiar little bin icon at the top of your screen. But there’s a problem. You’ve accidentally clicked ‘Delete for Me’. That message is still there, waiting to be read. That won’t be the case any longer. At least, it won’t be after WhatsApp finishes rolling out its new ‘Accidental Delete’ feature. 5-second rule The head of…
The 2022 FIFA World Cup saw plenty of world records broken this year. We got to see the most goals ever scored in the tournament (172), Mbappe scored the most goals for a player aged 23 or younger (8) and there were also the most deaths in the build-up to the tournament itself (37 – according to The Guardian). It wasn’t all doom and gloom though. Well, not for Google. Google Search also saw records being broken where the World Cup was concerned, recording its highest volume of traffic ever during the tournament according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai. That’s…
There’s still some time before the Department of Energy makes any changes official but there’s no harm in checking out the Central Energy Fund’s (CEF) predictions, right? Especially when it’s shaping up to be such a good month for petrol and diesel drivers alike. If you’re able – try and hold off on filling up the tank until the first Wednesday of the New Year – 4 January. That’s because the CEF is predicting drops close to R2 and R3 for petrol and diesel respectively. Of course, these totals aren’t final yet. The CEF offers its price estimation based on…
Remember last month, when there was no World Cup, and Messi wasn’t the GOAT? Yeah, us neither. All we can remember is last night – the World Cup final which gave both France and Argentina a chance of winning it all. After two hours and a set of nerve-wracking set of penalties, Argentina emerged victorious – solidifying Lionel Messi’s postion of being the best. Footballer, of course. We heard he’s not great at brain surgery. But, as with everything, it needed to come to an end. Players on both teams have lives to return to, as well as domestic leagues.…
South Africa’s military forces have been deployed across four of Eskom’s power stations in an effort to stop thievery and vandalism, allowing it to provide power without interruptions. The four stations receiving extra backup are the Camden, Majuba, Tutuka, and Grootvlei power stations. The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) was confirmed to arrive at each of the four stations on Saturday afternoon, where they are currently still stationed. “Eskom can confirm that the SANDF is being deployed. Eskom has received deployments at four sites,” said the utility in a statement. “There has been a concerted effort to collaborate across…
Elon shortening his stay Elon Musk could be heading for the metaphorical and literal door at Twitter very soon. And no, we aren’t doxxing you, Musk. We’re just making a joke that you may very well be out of a job where Twitter is concerned. Following a tirade with Musk at the helm, the big boss tweeted out a poll yesterday that boldly asks “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.” Whether he will is a different story altogether. During Musk’s brief time as Twitter CEO, Musk has been known…
