Just to be clear, in case the headline wasn’t, a Microsoft spokesperson has told The Register that Windows 11 will not be supported on Apple’s M1 devices. Put differently, Microsoft will continue to not support its operating system, something it’s always never done, on a competitor’s hardware. Not supporting it doesn’t mean it won’t run, but if you screw things up don’t go crying to Microsoft to help you unscrew them, you’ll find yourself blue-ticked. If you’re one of those people that need to work in both macOS and Windows for some reason, you might still be able to do…

A leak from Nvidia’s Geforce Now server has either revealed the next potential Sony PC ports or it’s just a random list or it’s somewhere in between. The point is no one has the answer except Nvidia and they’re not saying anything useful yet. First seen on Github from a post by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik, the list of 5,749 entries probably won’t make sense to a lot of people. But developer Ighor July found a similar, larger list while scratching around in the GeForce Now files with some interesting entries. If we were to speculate here, we had a…

If you, like us, can’t wait to try out the new version of Android since Google gave us an update at its I/O 2021 event back in May, we might not have to wait too much longer. Android 12, the version yet to be released, has been in the oven for much longer than its predecessors but XDA-Developers’ editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahman says the update could get a 4 October stable release. If you have a Pixel then your Android 12 wait is nearly over https://twitter.com/MishaalRahman/status/1437085889885310976 The thought here is that, if the screen capture in the tweet is accurate, Google…

Xiaomi continues to impress us with their affordable products that you have to work hard to find faults with. The company’s newest entry into the wearables market, the Mi Smart Band 6, follows this trend closely. You’d be hard-pressed to find the same mix of features at a similar price while maintaining a high standard of quality.  The smartwatch market saw a 27% year on year increase from Q2 of 2020 to Q2 of this year. Whereas the wearable band market also saw a bit of growth. Not quite as much as smartwatches, but it did see Xiaomi overtake Apple…

WhatsApp will now keep your chat backups safe WhatsApp has been using end-to-end encryption on your messages since 2016, which is a great feature. But if your messages aren’t encrypted everywhere it kinda defeats the point. That was the case until now. Recently, WhatsApp began testing encryption for the chat backup feature it offers, using

Sony is acting like that partner your friends tell you to avoid. It says one thing but then, once you’ve got your hopes up, goes back on it almost immediately saying it was a one-time thing and now you’re overreacting, stop being so emotional why are you always like this your mother was right, I can’t even. The company initially laid out a rather complex plan to only allow the higher costing deluxe preorder packages the ability to upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5. There was no way to own the game on both consoles with the standard…

Warner Bros. Pictures has kicked off its marketing campaign for The Matrix: Resurrections with an interactive teaser trailer (or trailers, actually) on the revived website “What is the Matrix”. The teaser starts with the classic question. Red pill or blue pill? Choose the red pill and your eyes will be opened to the truth. After the familiar strips of green characters, you’ll see snippets of the past conflict at the centre of the original Matrix trilogy with the voiceover telling you “it could be this is the first day of the rest of your life, but if you want it, you gotta…

We’ve all watched a video at some point, right? If you have, then you’ve made use of a video codec in some form or another. ‘Codec’ is an abbreviation of compression-decompression. In a nutshell, it is a standard for transmitting or storing media. Let’s say you want to stream a movie from Netflix. When you click play on your chosen movie, you aren’t downloading the footage just as it was on the cameras that shot it. The files that movie cameras make when they record are massive. You’d need a much faster internet connection than is currently available to stream…
