Stuff digs Beyerdynamic, so you can imagine how our ears pricked up at the news of a new set of cans. These are joining the company’s Aventho line as the Aventho Y. It’s a little on the nose, but whatever. Beyerdynamic typically doesn’t disappoint when it comes to audio, and we’re hoping it won’t start now.
All about that battery life
Battery, at the very least, looks solid. Keep ANC (active noise cancellation) turned off, and the Aventho Y will reward you with 90 hours of its company. If you need to block the outside world, you’ll have to sacrifice 30 of those hours. The company reckons that a five-minute charge is all you need to add six hours of juice back.
Beyerdynamic’s also gone out of its way to make these more repairable than your average pair of headphones. And not just the magnetic cushions (yeah, those are here), but the battery, sliders, and hinges, too. Beyerdynamic hopes you’ll be wearing ’em for a long time, and we don’t just mean 90 hours. We’re talking years in the future.

This is a closed-back set, further helping block out noise from beyond the ears. Inside sit 45mm dynamic drivers that deliver “Beyerdynamic’s renowned sound” — something we mentioned we’re already fond of. Bluetooth 6.0 and multipoint connectivity are supported, though only the standard AAC and SBC codecs are available.
Unfortunately, details on an official South African launch and price are still scarce. The company’s products have found their way to South Africa in the past, so it’s probably only a matter of time before these do. They’re available in four colours — Liquid Black, Blue Fusion, Peach Blush, and Soft Jade — and are priced at $150 (∼R2,400).
