Bose’s now three-year-old QuietComfort cans are in desperate need of a refresh. True, we’ve had two pairs of QuietComfort Ultra over-ears in that time, but the folks looking for something more affordable have been out of luck. That might be about to change according to Dealabs, which claims a second-gen pair is in the works.
Better yet, they might be ready to infiltrate consumers’ ears much, much sooner than you’d think. The QuietComfort (2nd-gen) looks to be more of a proper sequel, rather than a simple refresh. There’s talk of a new design, big changes to audio quality, and even some new controls. Battery life appears unaffected, though.
Looks like QuietComfort’s back on the menu
Another leak, this time coming from HotEUDeals, all but confirms the new design for the second-gen pair thanks to several images. They show off the cans’ wider headband and a pill-shaped design for the padding. Bose’s own marketing calls out the headphones’ “more soft, synthetic leather details”. Physical controls have stuck around too, with the right cup hosting a multifunction rocker and another button, leaving Bluetooth on the left cup.
They’ll fold up flat, and make their home inside a soft zip-up carry case that’ll come as part of the package. The leaked marketing materials also emphasise a wider range of colours. Black and white have stuck around, and will be joined by White Smoke, Rosewood Mauve, Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Hazelnut Taupe.

As for the tech under that padding, expect to hear Bose’s TrueSpatial tech, QuietControl ANC, and lossless audio via the USB-C port. The company’s ActiveSense tech will also make an appearance, adding new modes like Immersion and Cinema Mode. Expect roughly 24 hours on a single charge with ANC enabled, and only 18 when TrueSpatial is running the show.
Now for the best bit: Dealabs‘ leak points to a full reveal taking place tomorrow, 7 August. There, it’ll reveal a price of $360, converting (roughly) to R5,900. There’s a good chance Saffas will get a turn to play eventually, after the official launch, currently slated for a week from now, on 13 August 2026.
