Can you believe it’s already been ten years since Hideo Kojima gave Konami the finger and started Kojima Productions?
You can? Well, then you probably won’t be surprised to learn that there’s another limited edition watch from the folks at Aincorn Watches to commemorate the company’s 10th anniversary.
This isn’t the first time the two have partnered up. They, along with NASA, joined creative forces for the Space Ludens limited edition watch a few years ago. Like that one, the new Ludens X set features Kojima Productions’ mascot character Ludens. Only this one is said to be “a darker, sharper, and more cinematic expression.”
Standard Kojima Productions things
With this collaboration, you aren’t just getting a watch. One of those is included with the Ludens X Watch set, which consists of the watch, a black stainless steel bracelet, and a metal print warranty card. There is also an additional separate silver stainless steel bracelet, and another larger metal print of Ludens to round out the collection.
The Ludens X watch is obviously the star of the show. The black stainless steel case, measuring 39mm (L) x 49mm (W) x 12.7mm (H), encloses a modified NH35-ATD automatic movement and features four gold-tone screws as prominent accents and the phrases “BEYOND THE STRAND” and “INTO OUTER SPACE” engraved around the bezels.
The Ludens X dial was designed by Kojima Productions’ art director Yoji Shinkawa with layered technical elements and bears the company’s logo and a 10th-anniversary mark. The dark dial is further contrasted by gold-tone mechanical accents, including exposed screw elements and a brushed metallic panel that is said to be “inspired by the mechanical structure of the Ludens EVA Creative Suit.”

The gold-tone accent is repeated on the sunray brushed and polished hour and minute hands, which use a blue photoluminescent pigment to glow in the dark. Sapphire glass protects the dial and case back, where you can see the internal mechanisms in action.
The Ludens X watch comes with two interchangeable wearing options: a black stainless steel bracelet with Ludens-inspired buckle details, and a carbon fibre-pattern leather strap.
Where to get it
If you’re a Kojima fan, you’re probably still staring at the header image, involuntarily convulsing and frothing at the mouth. In that case, you’ll probably want to know the only place you can grab one is from Anicorn Watches’ website.
If you’re just looking for the watch set, you’ll need to set aside at least $940, or R15,740 directly converted, but presumably more for shipping and import fees. There won’t be too many made, so probably best not to dawdle. Want to add the silver bracelet and metal character print? Those will require an additional $65 (~R1,090) and $48 (~R800), respectively.
