Design is something you feel, not just see, and materials carry more than just the weight of the sound itself. Bang & Olufsen introduces the final two editions in its five-part Atelier centenary series: the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition and Beolab 90 Zenith Edition.
Beolab 90 Monarch Edition: Sculpted in rosewood
The Monarch Edition is a classic Danish design that is rooted in what feels right for any home space in any modern, design-led South African space, be it an apartment or a standalone house. Finished in rich rosewood, it’s a statement piece that balances warmth with precision.
- Wood in motion: Angled rosewood lamellas wrap around the aluminium body, creating a continuous flow that feels dynamic from every angle.
- Refined detailing: Six wooden knots connect the structure, with a subtle light-through-wood detail at the front adding depth and intrigue.
- Seamless form: A solid rosewood top ring and matching base panels create a cohesive, sculptural silhouette.
- Material contrast: The warmth of rosewood sits beautifully against ochre-toned aluminium, striking a balance between natural and engineered finishes.
- Sound meets design: Semi-transparent fabric reveals glimpses of the acoustic drivers, blending performance with visual appeal.
The Monarch Edition is all about movement and rhythm. Every detail is intentional, guiding the eye and turning the speaker into a piece you experience visually as much as you do sonically.
Beolab 90 Zenith Edition: A symphony of pearls
The Zenith Edition takes a more expressive and luminous approach. It’s bold, lights up the room and is designed to interact with light in a way that constantly evolves throughout the day.
- Pearl-inspired surface: Over 1,700 anodised aluminium spheres are arranged
across six panels, creating a shimmering, reflective finish. - Precision finish: A dark grey, pearl-blasted aluminium facemask draws inspiration
from the inside of an oyster shell. - Signature detail: A mother-of-pearl inlay crowns the speaker, adding a soft,
luminous focal point. - Sculptural design: Curved panels follow the speaker’s form, ensuring the texture
feels integrated, not applied. - Balanced aesthetic: Polished aluminium and fabric elements bring together the
visual and acoustic layers.
The Zenith Edition feels alive. As light shifts, so does its presence, making it as much an art piece as it is a high-performing speaker.
A century in sound, completed
The Monarch and Zenith Editions complete Bang & Olufsen’s five-part anniversary series, joining the Shadow, Mirage and Titan Editions as part of the brand’s centenary celebration.
While each edition introduces its own material story, the core remains unchanged: Beolab 90’s world-class acoustic performance, powered by 18 custom drivers and advanced beam-forming technology.
Each edition is limited to just ten pairs globally, making them exceptionally rare. Every set comes with a certificate of authenticity, along with a miniature aluminium Beolab 90 sculpture in the matching edition, presented in a custom case firmly positioning these pieces as collector’s items.
