The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is a lot of things, but a SteamOS-running machine is not one of them. According to a fresh report from Windows Latest, that could all be about to change as Lenovo gears up to release a non-Windows model that once again sticks AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip in the driver’s seat.
Lenovo Legion Going to CES
If the rumours are true, isn’t that far off, either. Lenovo could be hoping to debut the “new” handheld PC console as soon as CES 2026, which kicks off in the second week of the new year, joining Samsung and LG’s new TVs.
If you’d hoped for improved specs, keep on hoping. Windows Latest reckons the “new” Legion Go 2 will ship with the same specs as its sibling, meaning “up to” the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, and a proper 74Whr battery. Of course, Lenovo’s kept those wonderful TrueStrike controllers around for a second go. Sitting atop all that sleek hardware is n 8.8in OLED display that’s worthy of a 144Hz refresh rate.
Lenovo is no stranger to following its hardware with a SteamOS model. It previously released the Legion Go S several months after the first Windows 11 model debuted, making it the first non-Valve device to ship with the software out of the box. History tells us that the SteamOS will at least target a lower price than its Windows-based sibling, to the tune of roughly 15%. Too bad we’re still waiting on the original bit of kit in SA.
