Sony’s State of Play presentation is back, and this time it’s celebrating everything Japan. Well, specifically the country’s games (which tend to err on the side of ‘good’) — and even more specifically the ones headed to PlayStation in the near future. State of Play Japan is a first for the company, and will air in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 November local time. And if you can’t make it because you’re, well, asleep, we’ve got your back.
Big in (State of Play) Japan
If there were ever a time to drop the long-rumoured Bloodborne remaster, it would be here. Sony confirmed that the presentation would focus solely on “games created in Japan and across Asia, alongside a few other exciting updates.” FromSoftware fits the bill, and with Elden Ring Tarnished Edition delayed to next year…
No, we’re not getting our hopes up. We don’t doubt that we’ll see Bloodborne return one day, possibly as a PS6 launch title ala Demon’s Souls. And if not, we’re keen to see what Sony and its Japanese developers have got cooking. We’ve got our fingers crossed for another look at Nioh 3 or Phantom Blade Zero.

The show will be hosted by legendary voice actor Yuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan), and is set to run for roughly 40 minutes — typical for the State of Play format. It kicks off at 00h00 SAST on Wednesday, 12 November (so, tonight) for any South Africans wishing to tune in live.
The livestream is already up on YouTube, but it will also be presented on the official PlayStation Twitch channel at the same time. Or if you couldn’t be bothered with any of that, we’ve embedded the stream above. Of course, we’ll have a round-up of games shown off at State of Play Japan tomorrow, so keep your eyes open for that if you’d rather get some sleep.
