You’ve seen The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time running on the Nintendo Switch 2, but what about the hardware to go with it? This week Nintendo announced a slew of Zelda-themed bits and pieces — a carry case, Switch 2 Pro Controller, and even a custom Switch 2 — all of which are now up for pre-order in South Africa.
Will you make the switch?
Nintendo stans who either have more money than sense or had enough foresight to wait for a Switch 2 refresh will get the last laugh. The console officially costs R12,000 — only R500 more than the base console. It’ll include all the same stuff as the base edition, but with a special Zelda skin on top of the dock and Joy-Cons. It’s not a bad deal if you don’t already have a Switch 2 in your arsenal. Plus, it’s even cheaper than the R12,500 launch price.
Then there’s the 40th anniversary edition Pro Controller 2. This one will set buyers back R2,300 — retaining the price we saw at launch more than a year ago. It’s easily the best Nintendo-made Switch controller on the market, even if the price is tough to stomach. Ninty’s hoping a Triforce on the face will be enough to convince you.

Finally, there’s the Carry Case (and screen protector). This allows users to take their Switch 2 — just the display and Joy-Cons on the go with them. This is the cheapest bit of Zelda merch for the Switch 2, coming in at R900. If it’s anything like the original Switch’s Zelda carry case, it’ll offer some decent protection.
It’s worth noting that customers are limited to one of each accessory per order, in a bid to keep scalpers at bay. They’ll all be available on 29 October locally, a week before The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arrives.
