If Spotify didn’t already scare you off after its latest price hike, then your loyalty will be rewarded with a slew of new features that’ll supposedly take the streamer’s lyrics feature to the next level. Like taking them offline, for instance, which is a perk that’s headed for the app’s paying users, regardless of which tier they’re subscribed to.
Big day for lyrics

The company’s announcement of the change mentions two other features coming to the app — both of which will be available to all subscribers in the coming weeks, not just the ones forking over a monthly fee.
Up first is ‘lyric translations’, which does exactly what it says on the tin. While initially launched in 2022 in certain regions, Spotify has finally made good on its promise to expand it. If the song offers lyric translation, just hit the ‘translate’ icon underneath the original lyrics. Translations will default to your device’s native language.

Then there’s ‘lyric previews’, which removes all that hassle of scrolling all the way down to the lyrics (yugh, right?) and sticks them right beneath the album artwork or Canvas clip, in time to the music. “Early testing suggests this new layout makes it easier to engage with lyrics and can help listeners return to songs they discovered,” Spotify wrote. The feature is already rolling out to Android and iOS users worldwide.
Finally, ‘offline lyrics’ is a Premium-only feature that takes the lyrics with you wherever you go, no mobile data required. They’ll be downloaded alongside each song that offers them, which could lead to an increase in the space Spotify uses on your device. The feature is currently rolling out worldwide.
