If there’s one thing we’re thankful for this year, it’s Lego’s work ethic. So far, we’ve had the wholly-techy Smart Brick, something for Zelda fans, and a free Lego duck. Hell, even the schoolkids can get some playtime. And now, it’s catering to Lord of the Rings disciples with the uber-cool helm of the dark lord himself. Sauron, guys.
Don’t Sauron the price just yet
Sure, it’s got nothing on the exquisite Barad-dûr set from the plastic brick company, but that’s to be expected. One’s an 83cm tall monument to Sauron’s depravity throughout Middle Earth. The other is just that guy’s helmet. Still, that means it won’t cost an arm and a leg to own, instead requiring a far more manageable $70 — or R1,100.
The minifig-heads (is that a thing?) will be glad to hear that the set also includes a proper Sauron minifigure that was previously only exclusive to the monstrous Barad-dûr set we mentioned earlier. The set also arrives with a custom-built stand to help display this thing in your house (or apartment, if it’s going next to Barad-dûr).

This isn’t the first time Lego’s gone for a simple helmet, and it won’t be the last. The set must have proven to be a money-maker when it ran out of Star Wars sets, and it’ll likely work just as well for The Lord of the Rings. We’re keen, anyway, especially since it only has 538 pieces, and measures 33cm tall, 13cm wide, and 13cm deep.
Lego’s latest Lord of the Rings cash-in is currently up for pre-order in the US, with an expected release date of 1 March 2026. There’s no telling when it’ll arrive in SA or for how much, but past dealings with Great Yellow Brick, South Africa’s Lego Certified Store, it’ll be along shortly without too much of a mark-up.
