It’s difficult to think of a way to change the average laptop in any novel manner. Asus has given it a shot, adding special control peripherals to the keyboard area of some of its ProArt laptops. Lenovo’s Legion Pro Rollable, a still-rumoured gaming notebook, is targeting the other flat surface.
It’s not the first time Lenovo has launched a rollable display, having already put its ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable out in the world. While that one extends upward to ensure that you can always scroll a little further in Excel, its Legion Pro will expand sideways. Great for flight sims and racing games, a little pointless if you’re up against high-spec CS:GO autists.
Rollable Legion
The existence of the newest Legion member, spotted by a website called WindowsLatest, isn’t confirmed, but it could well be in the next few weeks. The first look at the expandable Legion Pro is expected to take place at next year’s Consumer Electronics Show, between 6 and 9 January.
Specific details of the gaming machine are murky. The display (resolution isn’t known) will expand on the left and right to a 21:9 aspect ratio, and presumably, closing it when its wings are unfurled won’t utterly destroy the thing. Intel’s Core Ultra processors are supposed to live inside, though which of these gets the nod isn’t known.
Everything else — price, display size, the remainder of the internals — is left to the winds until Lenovo makes its presentation or someone else blabs. We’re obviously hoping for the latter, but with less than a month before the official unveiling is supposed to kick off, a spot of waiting over the festive season isn’t so bad. It might even be worth it to see a genuinely rollable gaming laptop display hit the market. If only LG Mobile had stuck around a little longer… what a world we could be living in today.
