It’s been a while since Amazon Prime’s gaming freebies grabbed our attention, but the December roundup is certainly worth looking into. If you didn’t know, Amazon Prime (and Prime Video) subscribers get automatic access to Luna standard, Amazon’s basic-tier of its cloud gaming service (formerly Prime Gaming). While not officially available in South Africa, the free PC titles it dishes out every month are still up for grabs locally.
Ignore the backlog, embrace the Amazon Luna
The PC games available on the service — which must be claimed via an Epic Games, GOG, or Amazon account — are yours to keep forever. The trick is grabbing them while they’re available. You’ll want to get a move on if you’re a Prime Video subscriber (the only way a budgeting South African can get access to the catalogue). Games like Lego 2K Drive, XCOM 2, and Fallout 76 can be yours forever, if you don’t already have ’em.
Before you can get to claiming, you’ll need to have a few things ready. Firstly, you’ll need your login details for your Prime Video account to sign in here. Next, you’ll need to create accounts for Good Old Games (GOG) and Epic Games, and keep those at the ready, too. Then just start hitting the “Claim game” button as fast as you can. Some games, like those available via GOG, require you to simply copy-paste the code into the website.
Games currently available via Amazon Luna:
- Fallout 76
- Lego 2K Drive
- XCOM 2
- GYLT
- Forgotten Realms: The Archives – Collection One
- Gunslugs
- Gas Station Simulator
- Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Sun Series
- Lovecraft’s Untold Stories
- New Tales from the Borderlands
- Fort Solis
- Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition
- Empty Shell
- Residual
- Dream Tactics
- PlateUp!
Stick around long enough, and you’ll get access to the gorgeous metroidvania Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus on 18 December, Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game and Fallout 2 on 23 December, and eventually, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on 3o December. You’ll need to keep your Prime Video subscription active to claim them all.
