November, and with it, Black Friday, might be over, but there are still plenty of great deals on tech to be had this Cyber Monday. That could mean scrounging around the web, hunting down deals for things you might think you want, but turn out to be hot garbage. It’s a much better idea to put your hard-earned money towards the tried and tested gear.
Here are five deals for stuff we’ve tested that we especially recommend if you can find them for the prices advertised. We don’t know how long these will be on special or if there will be any stock left by the time you read this. Better act fast.
Cyber Monday deals 2025
Philips OneBlade
R535 from Takealot
If hair is the bane of your (or your partner’s) existence, this electric razor will help you eliminate it efficiently. As a chronic shaver, Stuff‘s editor-in-chief, Toby Shapshak, swears by it. The highlights include a completely waterproof design, making shaving in the shower possible, and the fact that it’s rechargeable via USB (although you’ll have to supply your own adapter) makes it a great option to stick in a travel bag. It’s currently 40% off on Takealot, just be sure you’re getting the right one.
Dreame L10S Ultra Gen 2
R11,500 from Makro (online only)
When this robot vac from Dreame moved in, it made our manual vacuum obsolete. After a brief setup and calibration, we set up its schedule and left it to it. It only nags us every month or so to refill the water in the auto-empty station and throw out the dirty water. There are plenty of settings to fiddle with, and it will even optimise its cleaning time around pet feeding spots and beds so it doesn’t get in your furry friend’s way. It’s going for almost 30% off on Makro in an online-only deal.
Hisense HS2100 soundbar + sub
R1,500 from Game
At its launch price of R2,700, this 2.1 soundbar and wireless sub combo from Hisense was already a good value purchase. So it’s even easier now that it’s on special for R1,500. Don’t expect to be blown away by its 240W max power rating, and it’s not exactly going to turn heads for its innovative design. But you don’t need that from a budget soundbar. The audio upgrade you get over your TV’s built-in speakers is reason enough.
Sonos Ace headphones
R6,000 from Takealot
When Sonos launched its first set of over-ear headphones last year, we were impressed with the audio company’s first attempt. They weren’t breaking any ground unless you already owned Sonos’ flagship soundbar. Then, you can make the most of the TrueCinema feature that will send immersive audio over a low-latency connection to your headphones. That feature has since expanded to include more soundbar models. But other than that, they’re still very well-built, feature an understated design, are comfortable to wear for a whole work day, and boast a few features, like spatial headtracking, that might convince you. Even if you don’t own any other Sonos products and don’t care about spatial headtracking, the fact that they’re currently 40% off on Takealot should be enough.
Apple MacBook Air M1 13in
R10,000 from Amazon SA
Looking for a new laptop? Get this one. Unless you absolutely need it to be a Windows machine because of your workflow, Apple’s thinnest and lightest model of MacBook will be more than enough laptop for most folks. Sure, there has been steady progress to make them faster and more efficient, but that almost always means more expensive. With this deal, you’ll struggle to find comparable performance for the money. The particular model on sale only has 8GB of unified memory and 256GB, but if you’ve only got simple needs, why complicate things?
